Following a tragic fire at the original property, we have secured planning for a replacement dwelling. Our proposal is sympathetic to the original boat house while giving it a contemporary edge. The dwelling is situated in a way which takes advantage of the unique site’s stunning views. We conducted in-depth sun path research allowing us to track where the sun reflects from the river to portray a water rippling effect through areas of the house.
We were able to mitigate some problems the family had in the original house by lifting it from the flood plain and increasing its flood capacity. The materials were carefully selected to respect and create a sense of simplicity through the unique surrounding.
