This project was split into three phases, firstly to replace the original extension to the rear of the house which will house a new basement level below. Materiality was crucial to this stage, a careful blend of brickwork and stone detailing were used to match the neighbouring houses.
The second phase consisted of an additional single storey extension where a more contemporary design was explored, creating separation to adjacent extension but retaining its own identity.
We took advantage of the re-design to reconfigure and extend the kitchen, living and dining spaces allowing the rearrangement of internal elements giving us the opportunity to create a new master bedroom.
The final included the development of an outbuilding to be designed as a studio space for our client, we adopted the materiality used for the extension keeping it in flow with the buildings newly formed characteristics.
